Full Time Exempt AM Shift Pay Range: Min - $126,484.80 Mid - $170,185.60 Max - $210,787.20 Summary: The Emergency & Critical Care Unit Manager is responsible for the daily management and coordination of all activities within the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit. It includes supervising and monitoring the performance of the Emergency Department and Critical Care staff. A key aspect of this role is interacting with physicians, hospital staff, external agencies, patients, and their families to ensure comprehensive care delivery. This role holds 24/7 responsibility for all operational aspects of these departments. The incumbent is expected to continuously promote high-quality patient care and nursing services by applying their knowledge and skills in leadership, performance/quality improvement, communication, operations, and business management. Responsibilities: -Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients in ED and ICU. -Collaborates with Nursing, Quality Services, Medical Staff and other hospital departments to formulate corrective plans that correlate to the identified opportunities for improvement; coordinates annual Nursing QI Program review, revision, and approvals; -Coordinates various Nursing performance improvement reports and nursing quality reports in a timely manner; directs and facilitates progress with multidisciplinary performance improvement projects; directs development of nursing staff specific quality and peer review. -Responsible for coordination of unit specific Performance Improvement activities and utilizes the information to improve the quality of patient care. -Evaluates and analyzes statistical data to identify trends or opportunities for improvement utilizing appropriate statistical techniques. Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources of time, equipment, personnel and supplies. -In conjunction with the Nursing and Quality leadership, nursing staff and others, ensures the hospital licensure and accreditation compliance. -Interprets and implements The Joint Commission (TJC) and State and Federal regulations pertaining to Nursing Quality Improvement practices. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and established hospital standards, practices and procedures; coordinates plans of correction and monitoring when necessary; investigates, evaluates and recommends problem-solving methodologies where outcomes would necessitate corrective actions. -Develops organizational structure and productivity standards for areas of responsibility to ensure efficient performance of each service area. Participates in the development and attainment of hospital goals, objectives, and strategic plan. Develop and implement processes to manage cost, Overtime and registry use. -Accurately assesses need for ER saturation. Lead/Drives ED metrics ensuring EMTALA compliance, ED Throughput and APOT times as established by the organization. Attends all internal and external meetings that are relevant to ED/ICU. -Initiates- in collaboration with managers the development of Structure, Process and Outcome Standards, which govern Emergency Services. Presents completed standards to the appropriate organization level for approval. Ensures compliance with developed standards. Required Qualification: Licensing Current and unrestricted RN license to practice in the State of California required. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required BLS - Basic Life Support Certification required. ACLS - Advanced Life Support required. PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required (within 6 months of hire) Minimum Two years of acute care leadership experience in the clinical/specialty areas ED/ICU No Referrals or Candidates Accepted from Recruiters or Agencies.
