Vacancy Information: There are seven part-time (FSLA non-exempt) positions available. Hours: Monday -Thursday 7:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. Friday-Monday 7:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. (Work hours are based on department needs and are subject to change)Job Summary: Under close supervision, to perform a variety of routine and repetitive manual duties; to perform related duties as required. This position is an unclassified (at-will) part-time position that works no more than 20 hours per week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES (These functions are representative and may not be presented in all positions in the class. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind related duties and work assignments.) Public Works: Washes street sweepers, pickup trucks, cars and equipment by hand and with a steam cleaner. Cleans vehicle windows. Checks cab area in vehicles for broken accessories. Empties trash cans. Cleans work area. Sweeps floor. Performs related duties as required. Administrative Services: Assists Duplicating Equipment Operator in operating, cleaning and maintaining various types of duplicating, copying and related equipment. Fills vending machines. Loads, unloads and receives supplies and equipment. Delivers supplies and equipment to departments. Cleans work areas. Sweeps floor. Moves furniture. Performs related duties as required. Parks and Recreation: Assists maintenance and recreation personnel to deliver and set up chairs, tables, booths, props, amplifying systems, stages. Cleans work area. Moves furniture and equipment. Mows, cleans and maintains parks and other facilities as directed. Performs related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS A typical way to obtain the requisite qualifications to perform the duties of this class is as follows: Education and Experience: High school graduation or GED and six months of full-time experience performing maintenance work. Skills and Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions. Learn and abide by safety regulations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships and deal tactfully with the public. License/Certificate: Possession of a valid work permit if under 18 years of age and currently enrolled in high school. Possession of a valid California C driver's license may be required and must be insurable by the City's insurance carrier. CalPERS Retirement Formula (Eligible Unit Members) 3%@60 Formula - Employees hired before May 6, 2011. 2%@55 Formula - Classic Members hired on or after May 6, 2011. 2%@62 Formula - New Members hired on or after January 1, 2013. Other: Employees pay the full Employee Member Contribution on a pre-tax basis. 1959 Survivors Program - level 4 Medical Insurance (Eligible Unit Members) The City contracts with CalPERS for medical benefits, which offers employees a choice of various HMOs and PPOs. The City shall pay the required monthly minimum of $143.00 towards the monthly health insurance premium. For unit members who have eight (8) years or more of consecutive service with the City and currently working 1,000 hours or more per fiscal year, the City provides an optional benefits package (medical and vision) and, effective May 26, 2016, the City provides an additional $314.00 per month to be used towards these optional benefits for employee and eligible dependents. Sick Leave Paid sick leave shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour for each 30 hours worked to a maximum of 24 hours per year. Unit members shall be entitled to use accrued paid sick time beginning on the 90th day of employment, defined as sick leave accrual and usage. Paid sick leave shall be taken in increments of not less than one (1) hour. Holiday Pay (Unit members will receive holiday pay only if they are scheduled to work during the pay period in which the holiday falls). Effective calendar year 2012, unit members will receive five (5) hours of holiday pay for each of the following holidays: New Year's Day Memorial Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day.
