Position Type: School Health Services Date Posted: 3/2/2026 Location: Pasco Closing Date: 03/16/2026 Department: Health Services Reports To: Executive Director of Student Services Supervises: None Classification: Classified- Exempt / 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) Annual Salary: Grade 33 $110,585.00 (Step 1/Year 1) - $124,475.665 (Step 5/Year 5) SUMMARY: The Director of School Health Services oversees the planning and implementation of the School Nurse Corps program, Childcare Consulting, and CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing. Key responsibilities include assessing district, school, and student health needs, aiding districts in policy development for student safety and health compliance, and providing recruitment, supervision, training, evaluation, and technical support to school nursing staff. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership and vision for the School Health Department. Perform supervisory personnel functions for ESD 123 staff, including hiring, supervising, screening, interviewing, training, evaluating, and offering professional development. Offer clinical and technical training, consultation, and assistance to nursing and school staff as needed. Organize, lead, and participate in various meetings with district leaders and agency staff. Compile and analyze data from diverse sources to ensure policy compliance and monitor program components. Prepare and manage administrative materials, such as contracts, plans, budgets, funding requests, reports, and policies. Conduct research to develop new programs/services, ensure compliance, plan actions, and respond to requests. Develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized student health plan prioritizing the delivery of health services, supported by professional and paraprofessional staff, to promote good mental, physical, and culturally appropriate health practices. Provide direct nursing services to school districts as needed. Ensure compliance with state nursing regulations for students with significant health care needs or medical conditions. Maintain working relationships with local, regional, and state health and social service agencies and providers. Serve as a resource for identified school districts, staff, parents, and community providers. Maintain confidentiality. Follow board policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Hold a valid Washington registered nurse (RN) license Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. Hold or eligible to hold a School Nurse ESA certificate. Five years of nursing experience Preferred experience in: Administration of a health-related program Supervision of multiple staff School-based nursing Current Washington State Driver's License. Requires knowledge of and/or ability to: Support and implement ESD policies, regulations, procedures and administrative directives. Current health issues affecting both rural and urban communities Child and adolescent health Interpret and apply complex school and health regulations School nurse delivery models and professional nursing principles, standards of care, and state and federal obligations. Plan, organize, and evaluate school nurse staff Work and relate effectively with students, parents, and school staff Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, school district staff and administrators, OSPI staff, other ESD 123 staff, board members, students and the general public. Motivate, direct, mentor, and lead department staff members. Communicate effectively in speech and writing Handle sensitive situations with tact and objectivity Utilize computerized health information software program WSP/ FBI background clearance required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel may be required to local school districts and program sites, and for workshops, committee representation and conferences at local, regional, and state level. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
