Additional Information Available to CAS Bargaining Unit Members Only. General Description This position provides skilled assistance to the Equity and Justice Department (EJD) Manager and others as assigned and acts in a discretionary capacity for the manager in coordinating operations in EJD. The mission of the EJD is to deepen and expand CTA's impact on racial and social justice. The position provides extensive logistical and administrative support to the EJD program and projects, which require exercising independent sound judgment and initiative with minimal supervision. Duties and Responsibilities Incumbent may perform any combination of the tasks listed below: Designs, coordinates, and implements processes for EJD-related projects. Compiles information and creates/maintains databases using current technology. Works with a variety of technologies for promotion and implementation of EJD-related projects and events, including social media graphics and website development. Experience working in culturally diverse environments, with racial, social, and economic justice issues and community organizations. Willingness to learn about and become sensitive to diverse cultures. Works with representatives of public and private educational partners, including students, parents, community partners as well as educational foundations. Attends and records minutes for assigned project-related events and meetings, virtual and/or in person. Prepares and authorizes stipends, vendor invoices, and check requests, subject to initial manager approval. Coordinates recordkeeping and budget reporting for EJD programs. Composes, prepares, and edits reports and routine correspondence for style and correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Assists in identifying, developing, and reporting information from files and other resource documents. Establishes and maintains files and records. Arranges, prepares, and completes follow-up for events and meetings and performs other required logistics. Plans, coordinates and follows through on large complex logistical projects assigned on a continuing basis. Answers telephones and responds to inquiries from the public, members, and staff as appropriate. Prepares materials for meetings, conferences, and events. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned. Qualifications - Minimum Required Bachelor's degree or Associate degree & 2 years relevant experience or High School diploma/GED & 5 years relevant experience. Extensive knowledge of CTA's organization and its administrative and policy-making bodies. Ability to function effectively under considerable pressure and solve complex office problems independently. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative. Demonstrated ability to exercise planning, coordinating and follow-through skills as applied to large complex logistical projects. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and to adapt to changes in priorities. Ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees in a complex interdependent organization structure. Ability to work cooperatively with leadership and management. Ability to learn and communicate CTA structure, policies, and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing. Proficient word processing skills with minimum keyboarding speed of 55 wpm. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn and use the Association's software programs including databases, web-based applications, and social media. Ability to travel as needed. Ability to work overtime as needed. This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
