Overview: The Vice President of Alternative Delivery plays a crucial role in discovering and pursuing transportation infrastructure projects utilizing Design-Build (DB), Progressive/Phased Design Build (PDB), Public-Private Partnerships (P3), and Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMAR) methods. This position is central to driving innovation, managing risks, and ensuring the successful execution of complex projects such as highways, bridges, transit systems, and multimodal corridors. This role may be hybrid. Preference is given to candidates who can work from MasTec Civil offices located in Miami, FL, Jacksonville, FL, Tampa, FL, Nashville, TN, or Charlotte, NC. Key Responsibilities: Business Development: Discover, assess, and manage significant alternative delivery transportation project pursuits. Conduct strategic evaluations (go/no-go) on new opportunities within the transportation infrastructure sector. Represent MasTec in public forums, industry conferences, and stakeholder engagements. Identify and evaluate potential joint venture partners, design consultants, and key subcontractors for specific projects. Oversee the full lifecycle of alternative delivery transportation projects from inception through completion. Enhance relationships with clients, partners, stakeholders, and design consultants. Maintain an organized project acquisition database ensuring data integrity and accurate forecasting. Pursuits: Lead project teams in generating technical solutions, schedules, and budgets that align with client goals. Ensure compliance with transportation agency standards. Collaborate with legal, financial, and technical experts to devise successful bids. Direct major transportation opportunities, including risk assessments and innovation implementation as needed. Identify risks and opportunities arising from contract language, market conditions, resource availability, design scope, and construction methods. Evaluate and recommend liability limits for design consultants and risk coverage for alternative delivery projects. Leadership: Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable culture. Serve as primary contact for clients and contractors during all phases of project pursuit and development. Lead proposal development, strategic partnerships, and contract negotiations. Guide the project team through collaboration on alternative technical concepts and progressive design phases. Coordinate with various internal departments, including estimating, safety, quality, operations, and executive administration. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 15+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure project delivery. Experience working with state DOTs, transit agencies, and federal transportation programs. Track record of delivering large-scale highway, rail, or bridge projects. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills. Demonstrated success with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, P3, CMAR) in the transportation sector. Experience with contract negotiations for design consultant and joint venture agreements. Understanding of risk management and insurance programs for alternative delivery projects. In-depth knowledge of transportation funding mechanisms, procurement processes, and regulatory frameworks.
