Salary: $17.60 - $19.23 Hourly Location : Foxborough, MA Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202400052 Department: Human Services Division: Recreation Opening Date: 03/05/2026 Closing Date: 3/27/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Bargaining Unit: N/A Position Description Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring safety, preventing injuries, eliminating hazards, and enforcing rules and regulations. Lifeguards also must recognize and respond quickly to all emergencies, check chemical levels, and clean or perform maintenance. They will provide high quality experiences for participants that focus on the Foxboro Recreation Department core values of safety, fun, responsibility and respect. Work is performed in a public pool area Essential FunctionsEnsure patron safety and protect lives by preventing injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors. Willingness to work varying hours including early morning, evenings and weekends required Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an emergency Inspect facility and report unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor Answer questions from program participants and patrons regarding hours of operations, facility rules and policies. Participate in in-service training sessions. Maintain fitness levels including swimming skills, strength and endurance. Recommended Minimum Qualifications Must be at least sixteen or older. Must have experience working with children in a group setting. Must attend all required staff training sessions. CPR, First Aid AED Certification(s) preferred. Willingness to work varying hours including early morning, evenings and weekends required. Supplemental Information Lifeguards should have a solid understanding of aquatic safety practices, basic emergency procedures, and general pool operations, including chemical testing and hazard identification. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred. Familiarity with supervising children in group settings is also important. This position requires strong swimming ability, rescue skills, and the capacity to maintain focused surveillance to ensure patron safety. Lifeguards must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with the public, provide excellent customer service, and accurately test and record chemical levels. Consistent rule enforcement and positive interaction with patrons are essential skills. Lifeguards must be able to recognize and respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and work rotating schedules that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Candidates should be capable of supporting a safe, welcoming environment aligned with the department's values of safety, fun, responsibility, and respect. This position is not eligible for benefits.
