Lead Surgical Technologist - Full Time - Days

At SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, we are looking for dedicated professionals who are passionate about supporting surgical teams and enhancing patient safety. Job Summary: Your main responsibility is to assist with surgical procedures and ensure patient care aligns with our department’s policies and procedures. You will work closely with the surgical team to anticipate needs and maintain a safe, organized environment. Key Responsibilities: Support department leadership by assisting with task delegation, scheduling, and training new staff. Provide constructive feedback during performance reviews. Utilize your surgical knowledge to anticipate and plan for routine patient care needs, adapting as necessary for unexpected situations. Maintain aseptic techniques and assist surgeons during all routine surgical procedures. Keep the operating room orderly and well-equipped, taking responsibility for all surgical tools and instruments. Demonstrate sound prioritization and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments. Educate and share your expertise with less experienced colleagues on surgical instrumentation and practices. Maintain a constant state of alertness to ensure safe patient care. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Completion of a technical program for operating room technicians. At least one year of experience in a surgical setting. Physical Requirements: Able to use vision and hearing to perform tasks effectively and safely. Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, and walking required. Frequent interaction with patients, requiring both communicating and physical assistance. Certifications and Licenses: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Certification. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification recognized in your state of work.
