Job Description

As part of our surgical team, the Certified Operating Room Technician / LPN Operating Room Technician (LPN/ORT) plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. We prioritize current bargaining unit employees for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally. On-call as scheduled. GENERAL SUMMARY: The LPN/ORT acts as a primary scrub person and is responsible for handling the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires proficiency across all surgical cases performed by our surgeons. Key responsibilities include: Circulating under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Anticipating the needs of the surgeon and maintaining asepsis at all times. Assisting with orientation, training, and mentorship of new LPN/ORTs. Collaborating closely with RNs and management regarding instrumentation and equipment. Providing support in Pre-op and Post-op areas by performing various duties under the direction of unit director/manager or registered nurse. Collecting blood and other patient samples, performing ECGs, and assisting with receptionist/clerical activities. To be successful in this role, you should possess: A high school diploma or equivalent. Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in New York State. Completion of pre-employment screening and physical requirements. An excellent attendance record. Basic proficiency in Windows operating systems. The ability to take call as scheduled. Self-motivation and technical aptitude. The ability to manage high stress levels. Good physical stamina to stand for prolonged periods. BLS Certification (preferred or to be obtained within six months). Knowledge of operating room equipment and/or Anatomy & Physiology. This position primarily supports operations at the CVPH main campus with assignments to our Ambulatory Surgery Center.
