Responsibilities The Pharmacy Technician III provides support to the pharmacist by performing supervised functions of preparations and delivery or pharmaceutical services and other duties of a technical nature not requiring professional oversight; abides by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and perform these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; adheres to hospital policy on dress code and participates in customer courtesy programs; requires minimal supervision to safely perform essential functions; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment or supplies that are necessary to perform essential functions; performs pharmaceutical care activities and functions such as maintainin and operatin equipment, reporting broken or malfunctioning equipment, maintaining current and adequate medication and supplies, monitoring temperature and humidity readings in clean room and report any excursions from required parameters, perparing non-sterile compounds in compliance with policies and USP 795 and 800, using aseptic technique to prepare sterile compounds (small volume and large volume IVs) in compliance with policies and USP 797 and 800, calculating and measure accurate doses, cleaning IV room walls, floors, windows, primary engineering controls, and all other surfaces in compliance with procedures and USP 797 and 800, maintaining appropriate documentation of batch preparations, cleaning, and room conditions and transporting, handling and disposal of Hazardous Drugs and waste according to policy and in accordance with USP 800; performs patient care activities on the pharmacy computer system in a safe and timely manner; utilizes a computer to access the Hospital Information System; performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms; restocks all work areas by transfer of stock or filling of automated dispensing cabinets, including emergency stock; reorders medications and supplies as required; maysupervise and train Pharmacy Tech I and Il in non-judgmental functions. Assists in training and orientation of Technician I and II; maintains accurate and complete records by utilizing the correct tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions and maintaining proper records for all medications and controlled substances dispensed or received; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the department; completes all mandatory department, educational hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to contract purchasing agreements as appropriate; maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas, equipment and supply areas; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; related duties as required. Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) as a Pharmacy Technician, nationally certified pharmacy technician with the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or NHA (National Healthcare Association) and completion of sterile compounding training with USA Health within six months of employment. Experience is preferred.
