SAP iDOC Consultant

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills The SAP IDoc Specialist is responsible for managing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting IDoc (Intermediate Document) processing within SAP systems. This role ensures smooth and reliable data exchange between SAP and external or internal systems using ALE/EDI frameworks. The specialist supports both inbound and outbound IDoc scenarios, handles errors, optimizes interfaces, and collaborates with functional, ABAP, and Basis teams to maintain seamless system integration. Roles & Responsibilities 1. IDoc Configuration & Integration - Configure IDoc interfaces, partner profiles, ports, and logical systems for ALE/EDI communication. - Set up inbound and outbound IDoc flows, including message types, IDoc types, and segment structures. - Support integration scenarios across SD, MM, FI, and other modules that rely on IDoc communication. 2. Monitoring & Troubleshooting - Monitor IDoc lifecycle and statuses using tools such as WE02, WE05, BD87. - Troubleshoot and reprocess failed IDocs, analyze error messages, and correct mapping or configuration issues. - Ensure proper posting of application documents created by inbound IDocs. 3. Data Exchange & Interface Management - Maintain and support electronic data exchange with external partners using EDI standards. - Support SAP-to-SAP data exchange using ALE for replication of master and transactional data. - Ensure reliability of automated processes such as invoice posting, shipment notifications, and PO updates. 4. Mapping, Testing & Documentation - Prepare and validate mapping files for IDoc segments, message types, and field structures. - Test inbound/outbound IDoc scenarios using business examples. - Document interface configuration, processing flows, troubleshooting steps, and functional specs. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with ABAP teams for enhancements, custom segments, and exits. - Collaborate with Basis teams for RFC connections, ports, communication channels. - Partner with functional teams to ensure business requirements are accurately implemented. Required Qualifications - Strong understanding of SAP IDoc concepts, structure, and processing techniques. - Experience with ALE/EDI integration. - Proficiency with IDoc monitoring and error-handling transactions. - Experience supporting IDoc interfaces for SAP SD/MM/FI modules. Generic Managerial Skills, If any • ABAP debugging knowledge. • Familiarity with EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT). • Understanding of common business scenarios such as PO, invoices, material updates. #LI-PL1 Salary Range-$120,000-$175,000 a year TCS Employee Benefits Summary: Discretionary Annual Incentive.
