Hourly Rate Ranges from Luxury Facilities | AM & PM Shifts Available| Skills Training & Certifications | Flexible Schedule ~ High School & College students welcome to apply!Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorks as a team to ensure the safety of Members and guests during operating hours and emergency situations. Prevents incidents from occurring in pool area to best of ability. Performs appropriate rescues and supplies proper first aid and/or CPR assistance needed; notifies proper authorities according to Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Works and leads a team to ensure the safety of members and guests during normal operating hours and emergency situations. Adheres to and enforces the rules and regulations set forth by the Pool Committee and reports all infractions to the Poolside Recreation Manager or Director of Aquatics. Assists with developing and leading in-service trainings for lifeguards. Reports all complaints, definite or potential hazards, or faulty equipment to the Poolside Recreation Manager or Director of Aquatics. Performs regular maintenance duties including, but not limited to, vacuuming pool, emptying skimmers, skimming surface of all pools, regularly refreshing towel supply, straightening tables and chairs, and disposing of trash and debris. Checks and maintains proper water chemistry. Maintains amenities and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, showers, and guard house throughout the day. Attend in-service training each Monday with a minimum of 4 hours per month according to satisfy state law. Assists in training and teaching Lifeguard staff in a leadership capacity. Monitors & suggests pool games at all times, assists in organizing, setting-up, and breaking-down any pool activity for members as directed by the Director of Recreation or Poolside Recreation Manager. Maintains all necessary records for incident reports, chemical checks, and daily attendance according to the law. Exhibits a courteous, polite, and helpful attitude with all members, guests, co-workers, and supervisory staff. Evaluates staff performance. In the absence of the Poolside Recreation Manager, the Head Lifeguards will be responsible for: Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the day-to-day activities and operations in the absence of the Aquatics Manager. Makes written reports for staff infractions utilizing the approved disciplinary procedure. Handles grievances of staff members, members, and guests and reports them to the Pool Manager or Director of Recreation. Performs other duties within areas of responsibility, as assigned. QualificationsPossess a current lifeguard certification through one of the following accredited organizations, American Red Cross, YMCA, or Ellis & Associates. If not currently certified, are prepared to attend a certification class through the Director of Aquatics. Possess excellent swimming skills (swim 300 yards continuously, retrieve 10lb brick from 12 ft. depth of water, and tread water using only your legs for 2 minutes continuously) Be at least 18 years of age. Prior experience supervising peers in either a professional or volunteer setting. Possess one plus years of Lifeguard experience. Ability to work variable hours, including early mornings, afternoons & early evening, weekends & holidays, and in-service trainings Possess a reliable mode of transportation to get to/from the Club. Ability to work outside in the poolside area up to 95% of the time, exposed to sunlight, wet and humid conditions, and heat occasionally exceeding 100 degrees. Ability to spend long periods of time standing. Ability to be independently mobile through clubhouse.
