This includes, but is not limited to, basic plumbing, basic electrical, flooring repair, dry wall repair, and exercise and relaxation equipment repairs. Ultimately, the FERM Technician ensures maximum up-time of the equipment, as it is essential to member satisfaction and retention. Maintaining world-class conditions is an expectation strived for at all clubs. This person reports to the Director of FERM. Essential Job Functions Perform basic plumbing repairs including, solenoid, sink, and shower valve replacements, flange bolt tightening, and water fountain repairs; Conduct minor electrical work, such as replacing wiremold, ballasts (under 12'), and assisting with bulb replacement; Handle drywall patching, touching up paint, marlite and trim replacement, and minor flooring repairs as needed; Troubleshoot and repair floor scrubbers, beverage coolers, and vacuums; Troubleshoot and maintain relaxation equipment that includes: tanning, red light booths, hydro beds, and relaxation pods; Troubleshoot and maintain exercise equipment including cardio and strength equipment; Install replacement TVs on an as needed basis, with a partner; Build effective work relationships within the region as part of the FERM Team's contribution to overall member satisfaction; Track, complete, and update communication on work orders through the maintenance management application; Must be capable of effectively handling the physical demands of the job, which can involve lifting 60 lbs., regular bending and lifting, working on 12' ladders as well as low to the floor; Escalate unresolved issues to the Facilities and Equipment Manager and the Director of FERM; Maintain clear and concise communication with Assistant General Managers, General Managers, Regional Managers, and Directors of Operations as needed; Maintain strong working relationships with vendors; Frequent travel required - must have reliable transportation; valid driver's license, and insurance; Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion that embraces the contributions of all team members; Embrace a service culture as an empathetic servant leader; Strive to be world class, humorous, inspirational, and memorable in every action we take; Make decisions based on what is best for our team as well as our business; Believe in and promote the company's core values, business philosophies, core purpose, and brand promise; and, Perform all other duties as assigned or required. Education & Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D., trade school, or some college preferred; Minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance, construction or as handyman, including plumbing, electrical, and drywall/finishing; Prior mechanical repair experience preferred; Previous customer service experience preferred; and, Basic computer literacy. Skills and Abilities Excellent phone, communication, and interpersonal skills; Understand and be able to communicate the Judgment Free Zone concept; Accuracy with numbers; Ability to follow directions; Ability to work well independently and with others; Positive attitude and willingness to help others; Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and be adaptable to changes; Organized, able to multi-task, and solve problems; Maintain a neat appearance and be courteous and approachable when interacting with employees, members, guests, and vendors, Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; and, Ability to recognize and learn from mistakes. Physical Environment & Requirements Primarily indoor environment with normal exposure to light, sound, heat, and cold; Must be able to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, grasp, and reach; Must be able frequently move, lift, push, pull, carry at least 60 lbs.; Must be able to operate equipment and tools; Exposure to standard maintenance and cleaning fluids and chemicals; Must be able to recognize, identify, and judge behavior within environment; and, Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand and must be able to exchange accurate information.
