Utilities / Refrigeration MechanicDepartment: Maintenance Reports To: Refrigeration Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Summary Under the general supervision of the Refrigeration Manager, this role performs a variety of routine and technical duties related to refrigeration systems. Responsibilities include locating and diagnosing equipment failures, performing basic troubleshooting, and ensuring all work is completed with a focus on Safety, Quality, Service, and Profitability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspect refrigeration equipment to ensure operation within specified ranges. Demonstrate basic knowledge of electrical components and systems. Perform daily inspections of high- and low-pressure boilers. Use hand-held temperature probes to verify computer readings at least once per shift/day. Manually record readings from daily rounds and assist with special projects as needed. Repair and replace electrical components as required. Assist with or perform preventive maintenance (PM) using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and maintenance software printouts. Maintain accurate refrigeration maintenance records, including digital/electronic documentation. Promote positive morale and maintain a constructive work environment among hourly associates. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems. Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and general plant equipment. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing facility maintenance environment. Language Skills Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to communicate clearly with employees and management. Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of variables in situations with limited experience. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions. Physical Demands Occasional use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching; stooping; kneeling; crouching; climbing; and lifting. Ability to work in refrigerated environments and confined spaces. Ability to use both hands for repairs and installations. Ability to distinguish colors for safe identification of electrical wiring. Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods. Ability to lift 50-70 lbs. unassisted. Possible exposure to high-pitched electrical noise and temperatures exceeding 100°F.
