Current first aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain). Experience working with children, especially in a school or transportation setting, is a plus. Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and families. Patience, reliability, and strong communication skills. Must complete a fingerprint/background check . REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist students with boarding, seating, and exiting the bus safely. Ensure students are seated properly and using safety restraints when applicable. Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe and respectful environment on the bus as you assist in ensuring students are adhering to the school bus rules. Provide assistance to students with disabilities or special needs, including securing mobility equipment and offering physical support. Communicate concerns or incidents to the bus driver and transportation supervisor promptly. Ensure that students are released to authorized individuals at designated stops. Assist with emergency evacuation drills and procedures as needed. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and behavior. Attend required training sessions, including safety and behavior management. Perform other duties as assigned by the transportation department or school administration. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed on a school bus in varying weather conditions. Requires sitting, standing, bending, and occasional assisting of students. Split shifts possible (morning and afternoon routes). May involve exposure to bodily fluids or disruptive behaviors.
