Job Description

Provide specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit during night shifts, delivering expert support to young patients with complex cardiac needs. This role demands hands-on experience with pediatric cardiac interventions such as managing chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care in accordance with the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Manage complex patient needs related to pediatric cardiac care, including psychological, emotional, cultural, and social aspects. Administer medications and treatments following established protocols; monitor and report side effects and effectiveness. Document detailed patient histories, symptoms, interventions, and care outcomes accurately. Provide education and support to patients' families and caregivers to promote understanding and compliance. Collaborate with the healthcare team, making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks as needed. Uphold organizational competencies focused on leadership and clinical excellence. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current RN license in Texas or compact state. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA approved) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum one year of pediatric cardiac or critical care nursing experience preferred; new graduates with critical care orientation are also considered. Completion of orientation and competency validation within the first month of hire.
