POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Registered Nurse who will play a key role in planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures with precision and excellence. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education/Training: Earned nursing diploma or degree from an accredited institution. Valid nursing license in the state of Tennessee. Must respond to hospital within thirty minutes for on-call shifts. A minimum of one year experience in medical/surgical nursing. BLS certification within 90 days of hire. ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. Workplace Experience: Perioperative care experience is preferred. Equipment and Skills Training: Familiarity with standard patient care equipment and ability to work well under pressure is essential. Candidates should possess general knowledge of the hospital's computer systems, medication systems, and endoscopic sterile processing equipment. Physical Environment: Work takes place in an Endoscopy Unit catering to a diverse patient population ranging from adolescents to those over ninety-nine years old. Physical Effort: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Able to stand and work for up to twelve hours per day. Able to lift and assist patients weighing up to 250 lbs with appropriate assistance. Able to transport patients on stretchers or beds as necessary. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Conduct thorough assessments of all patients upon admission, using observation and communication skills. Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs, nursing diagnoses, and measurable outcomes. Collaborate with team members to ensure effective and timely delivery of patient care. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families. Demonstrate independent competency in performing treatments and procedures in accordance with hospital policies. Safely handle, transport, and administer medications in compliance with hospital protocols. Document patient care activities accurately and promptly. Continuously reassess patient conditions, adapting care plans as needed. Maintain a healing environment for patients and families. Achieve and maintain position specific qualifications. Contribute to staff development by training and mentoring new employees. Manage assigned communications and responsibilities effectively. Be flexible to float to other surgical service areas as required.
