Description Leidos is on the lookout for an experienced Quality Manager for Calibration Systems to lead our quality initiatives in commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs. This position is critical to ensuring exceptional quality and can be based in Decatur, AL or Huntsville, AL. As part of Leidos-Dynetics, you will work within a dynamic team dedicated to providing innovative engineering, scientific, and IT solutions across various sectors. The Quality Manager for Calibration Systems will spearhead the implementation of a robust Quality Control system that emphasizes customer satisfaction and drives continuous improvement and defect reduction initiatives. You will oversee quality assurance for a variety of mechanical products—including machined parts, mechanical and composite assemblies, and flight hardware fabrication—while managing Precision Measurement inspection capabilities, such as CMM and Laser Tracker technologies. Primary Responsibilities Act as the leading authority in quality control for identifying and resolving issues, reporting losses, and fostering continuous improvement practices. Prior experience managing Calibration Technicians, NDT inspectors, and Precision Measurement personnel is essential. Supervise daily operations of quality control personnel and oversee their activities. Assess and plan staffing needs for quality control based on product requirements. Develop a comprehensive calibrated tools program to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, such as ISO/IEC 17025 and NQA-1. Create and implement key metrics (e.g., process capability, control charts) to monitor the health of the calibration program. Facilitate the quality planning process for all product lines, ensuring the selection of appropriate measurement tools and techniques. Possess a solid understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret drawing and design requirements. Collaborate with customers to identify quality improvement opportunities and maintain effective feedback loops with manufacturing and development teams. Propose and substantiate investments in new measurement equipment and training initiatives. Encourage a culture of innovation within the quality team, promoting the adoption of advanced techniques and technologies. Provide training and mentorship on quality standards and practices to team members. Report quality issues, trends, and losses to Quality Management. Participate in both internal and external quality audits. Exhibit strong leadership skills to enable effective collaboration across multiple departments. Manage the quality department's budget, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently to uphold quality standards. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in aerospace, systems, mechanical, or electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or business administration; or equivalent years of experience. 8+ years of experience in NDT and calibration system management in a manufacturing environment; or 15+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Expertise in machining processes via experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Proficient in measurement techniques and management of CMM/inspection labs. Strong problem-solving abilities. Possession of NDT Level III certification. Experience in QMS compliant organizations with AS9100 or ISO9001 standards. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area. Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading skilled professionals in a matrix-based environment. Familiarity with Windchill, Solumina, or similar engineering systems. Direct involvement with the implementation of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Modules. Proficient in developing corrective action presentations using tools like Ishikawa Fishbone and 8D methodologies. Experience in briefing customers and executives about status updates and problem resolutions.
