TITLE:School Nurse QUALIFICATIONS:Graduated from an accredited school of nursing, current license from the State Board of Nurse Examiners SUPERVISOR:Principal/principals to whom assigned SUPERVISES:Personnel assigned PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The role of the school nurse involves implementing a program of health services for the district within the framework of the philosophy and objectives established by board policy, consistent with statutes and standards of regulatory agencies, and in accordance with regulations and procedures. The school nurse: 1.Determines emergency physical needs of the student 2.Implements programs of preventive measures to promote the well being of each student 3.Cooperates with personnel in planning and implementing school health services 4.Assists in determining staff development programs regarding school health services 5.Implements health services for students 6.Assists teachers in planning and implementing health instruction 7.Prepares reports and maintains accurate records as required 8.Interacts with students to promote a positive attitude toward personal health 9.Promotes positive community relations through effective communication and interaction with community members 10.Performs other health related duties and functions as assigned
