Location Blackwood Campus Department Math, Science & Health Days and Hours AY: M-F; 8:30AM-4:30PM SM: M-R; 8AM-5PM Requisition NumberPosition Goals The Teaching Administrator - Surgical Technology/Clinical Administrator will report directly to the Surgical Technology Director and will provide administrative support to the Surgical Technology program. The Teaching Administrator is primarily responsible for all aspects of the clinical component. In addition, this position has teaching responsibilities and will assist in other aspects of the program including the organization, accreditation, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program. Job DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop, oversee, and maintain clinical affiliations. Coordinate clinical experiences and maintain public relations with the respective cooperative agencies. Observe, instruct, and evaluate students in the clinical setting and provide timely feedback. Submit all clinical assessments to the Program Director. Attend and participate in off-campus events with clinical partners to enhance program communication. Comply with clinical partners' onboarding requirements including all vaccination requirements, eLearning, background checks, and touring with students. Advise the Program Director of any situation that may require action beyond the authority of this position. Actively participate in student recruitment and retention activities; participate in job placement of students. Assist in the maintenance of appropriate program accreditation/certification. Participate in preparation for CAAHEP accreditation reports and site visits as necessary. Monitor, track, and address satisfactory academic progress of students. Assist the Program Director in ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency requirements and in achieving defined educational outcomes. Assist in the review of curriculum, textbooks, and other learning tools and resources to maintain effectiveness to meet goals and objectives. Assist in the development of the Master Schedule. Assist in program evaluation and review for all degree and certificate programs. Teach classes in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters for a total of 20 contact hours per academic year. When conducting classes: - Conduct classes as scheduled. - Process grades as scheduled. - Start class on time and conduct class for the fully scheduled time period. - Provide students with a written statement of course requirements and expectations that shall include the attendance and grading policy, course objectives, and a course outline. - Retain all credit course documentation for a period of not less than three (3) years upon the completion of the course in the Program Director's office. - Observe the approved Departmental Master Syllabi. Maintain certification through continuing education activities. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; supervise College-designated Surgical Technology facilities and staff. Conduct oneself with professionalism and surgical conscience at all times. Attend staff, faculty, department, and other meetings and events and prepare minutes as required; participate on College committees as assigned. Attend all federally or NJ State mandated training to include, but not limited to, Right-To-Know and Blood Borne Pathogens. Comply with all safety, fire, and smoking regulations. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possess either the Certified Surgical Technologist or the joint Certified Surgical Technologist / Certified Surgical First Assistant credential, or possess such credential before the date of hire. Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology program, or a combination of both within the past ten years. Possess at least an Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline. Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning. Have computer competency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • The ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time as required for teaching and dexterity in working with computers is mandatory. • The ability to communicate through hearing and speech is required. • The ability to lift at least 25 pounds is required.
