As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University's Office of Human Resources is seeking a Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness Manager to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission by building integrated talent and organizational effectiveness practices that strengthen leadership, culture, and institutional performance. This role is responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive talent management, organizational effectiveness, and learning initiatives that support both staff and faculty across the university. Key areas of focus include leadership development, hiring and selection effectiveness, performance management, succession and talent planning, career development, and organizational effectiveness. The position serves as a strategic partner to leaders at all levels, translating institutional strategy into people, structure, and capability decisions that align workforce strengths with the university's evolving needs. This role strengthens workforce readiness by identifying and developing the skills and capabilities needed to support Marian University's strategic priorities, academic mission, and evolving operational needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. Leadership Development & Capability Building Design, implement, and continuously improve leadership development programs that build critical capabilities such as strategic thinking, change leadership, team effectiveness, decision-making, and navigating institutional complexity. Deliver development experiences through a mix of programs, workshops, assessments, coaching, and experiential learning opportunities. Partner with senior leaders to identify current and future leadership capability needs aligned with the university's strategic plan. Provide and/or coordinate executive and leadership coaching for senior leaders and high-potential talent to support individual effectiveness, leadership transitions, and succession readiness. Hiring & Talent Acquisition Effectiveness Strengthen hiring practices by improving how the university attracts, assesses, and selects talent for long-term success. Develop and implement consistent, equitable, and competency-based hiring practices, tools, and training for hiring managers. Collaborate with HR partners and campus leaders to enhance university branding, candidate experience, and selection quality. Performance Management Lead the evolution of performance management toward clear, goal-aligned expectations, meaningful feedback, and development-focused conversations. Design and implement tools, processes, and manager training that support accountability, performance improvement, retention, and engagement. Ensure performance practices align with Marian University's mission, values, and strategic priorities. Succession Planning & Leadership Continuity Design and manage a comprehensive succession planning approach for key and critical roles across the university. Partner with senior leaders to identify high-potential talent, assess readiness, and create targeted development plans. Use data and insights to monitor bench strength, leadership risk, and progress over time. Career Development & Employee Growth Create clear career pathways, development frameworks, and resources that support internal mobility and employee growth. Partner with leaders and employees to align development planning with institutional needs and individual aspirations. Promote a culture of continuous learning and development across staff and faculty roles, where appropriate. Culture, Engagement & Organizational Effectiveness Design, administer, and analyze engagement surveys, pulse surveys, and other feedback mechanisms. Partner with leaders to translate results into targeted action plans that improve engagement, inclusion, and organizational health. Partner with leaders to address engagement drivers, change readiness, and organizational health. Consult with leaders on organizational design, role clarity, team effectiveness, and change initiatives to improve agility, efficiency, and alignment with future needs. Lead and support organizational design initiatives that align structures, roles, and capabilities with the university's strategic priorities. Partner with leaders to proactively assess organizational effectiveness, clarify accountabilities, and design scalable solutions that support academic and operational excellence. Collaboration, Change & Influence Serve as a trusted advisor and change management partner to leaders across the university. Collaborate closely with HR colleagues to ensure talent, performance, and organizational effectiveness practices are integrated and scalable. Develop clear communications, tools, and guidance to support adoption of new programs and practices. Data, Analytics & Metrics-Driven Outcomes Use data, analytics, and workforce metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of talent and organizational initiatives and inform decision-making. Monitor and analyze key indicators such as time-to-fill, turnover, internal mobility, engagement, leadership bench strength, and development outcomes. Translate insights into actionable recommendations that improve talent processes, workforce readiness, and institutional performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field. Five (5) years of progressive experience in talent management, leadership development, organizational development, or related HR roles. Demonstrated experience designing and delivering leadership development programs and talent initiatives. Strong knowledge of performance management, succession planning, and career development practices. Experience consulting with senior leaders and influencing without direct authority. Strong facilitation, communication, and change management skills. Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies. Ability to interact at all levels of the client organization. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment. Ability to analyze data, synthesize insights, and translate strategy into practical solutions. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in human resources, Organizational Development, or a related field. Higher education experience. Experience with leadership assessments. Change management training or certification. Experience with talent systems and technology. Experience using HR systems and analytics to inform talent decisions. Certification or formal training in established leadership development methodologies or programs.
