Position Summary Working at a Visitor Information Center on Sierra National Forest at the High Sierra Ranger District Office, located in Prather CA. Location Prather, CA Schedule May 18, 2026 - September 4, 2026 Key Duties and Responsibilities Providing Forest Information in person and on the phone, on: Camping, Hiking, Fishing, Boating, Hunting, Lakes, Rivers, OHV, Roads Forest Produces such as Firewood, Mushroom and Fern picking Learn about the Forest Fora, Fauna & Reptiles Know about PG&E, SCE-Southern CA. Operations- Hydroelectric reservoir systems, Reservoirs & Camping recreation opportunities, including Camp Edison Private camping at Shaver, Pacific Crest Trail Current forest orders Knowledge of District Dept. operations, opening & closing procedures: doors, phones, outside restrooms, gates Explore and learn how to use Recreation.gov including create, enter, issue and file recreation sites and wilderness permits Marginal Duties Office filing, printing, copying, restocking and some minor cleaning Required Qualifications Customer service skills Computer skills (proficient) Driver's License Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the Forest would be helpful living locally or has own housing This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority. Hours 40 per week Living Accommodations Local candidates should have own housing Compensation $1,100 Required To/From Travel Allowance $450 Weekly Living Allowance All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
