You'll ensure that materials meet quality standards, comply with commercial and regulatory requirements, and are delivered on schedule - all while driving overall best value for the District.This is a high-impact role at the center of supply chain execution.What You'll AccomplishDrive Operational Readiness - Ensure crews and departments have the materials they need to keep projects moving and infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.Own the Procurement Process - Manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders from start to finish, incorporating appropriate commercial terms and quality requirements.Protect Value & Mitigate Risk - Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and corporate policy while delivering best total cost/value of ownership.Solve Problems in Real Time - Investigate discrepancies, resolve non-conformances, and communicate clearly to keep operations on track.Strengthen Supplier Partnerships - Build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers while negotiating and expediting orders as needed.Optimize Inventory Strategy - Evaluate and adjust min/max levels and monitor past-due purchase orders to support business needs.Support Strategic Sourcing - Contribute to broader Supply Chain Management strategies and improve sourcing practices.Why This Role Matters Projects stay on schedule Costs are controlled Compliance risks are minimized Suppliers perform at a high level Internal customers receive timely, accurate support Your decisions will have a direct and measurable impact on operational efficiency across OPPD.What Success Looks LikeYou thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. You understand that purchasing is not administrative - it is mission-critical.QualificationsRequired: High School diploma or equivalent Five (5) years minimum experience in material management , procurement, or related field OR eight (8) years minimum experience in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, warehousing, or planning areas of an electric utility or large industrial type facility Knowledge of warehouse functions Knowledge of the procurement practices and policies Knowledge of materials, products and services utilized in the electric utility business Must be available for overtime as needed Proficiency using Microsoft Windows operating systems including EXCEL and Word Skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications and bids Skill in both verbal and written communication Skill in establishing and maintain effective working relationships Desired: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a Business or Materials Management related field Certification as a Certified Purchasing Supply Manager (CPSM) Proficiency using Asset Suite software Closing StatementUnion Local 1483Min: $43.64/hrMax: $52.83/hrAt Omaha Public Power District , we¿re passionate about three things: power, the people who make it, and the people who rely on it.WE ARE: Where the Light Starts.
