Description Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse | Per Diem Location: Mariposa, California - Gateway to Yosemite National Park Department(s): Acute / Emergency Department (based on skill set and experience) Openings: 3 Representation: This is a Union represented position and is represented by AFSCME Local 2703 Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN I / RN II) provides professional, compassionate, and skilled nursing care to patients in the Acute and Emergency Department settings. RNs ensure patient safety and quality outcomes through comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, following established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. RNs collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote patient recovery, comfort, and education, while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and a strong commitment to the District's mission of compassionate community care. Key Responsibilities and Skills Provide safe, high-quality nursing care through accurate assessment, medication administration, and documentation. Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition. Implement and evaluate individualized care plans using evidence-based practices. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care. Maintain current clinical competencies, certifications, and knowledge of infection control and emergency procedures. Participate in quality improvement, education, and team collaboration initiatives. Support, guide, and serve as a resource to other nursing staff when assigned (RN II). RN II: Exercise increased independent judgment in care planning and evaluation; may serve as Charge Nurse or provide lead direction. RequirementsRN I - Entry Level / New Graduate New graduates or RNs with less than one (1) year of general acute-care hospital experience. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current California Registered Nurse license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 3 months of hire. Cardiac Monitoring and Telemetry (CMT) course or verified cardiac monitoring proficiency within 3 months of hire. Prior Emergency Department experience preferred but not required. RN II - Experienced Level Minimum one (1) year of acute-care or comparable nursing experience required. Meets all RN I requirements. ACLS required upon hire. CMT completion or demonstrated proficiency required. One additional relevant certification required (e.g., TNCC, PALS, MICN). Emergency Department RN II staff must hold or obtain MICN within 90 days, plus PALS, ACLS, and TNCC.
