Salary: $13.00 Hourly Location : Beaumont, TX Job Type: Hourly Worker Job Number: 202500252 Home Org: Gladys City Opening Date: 12/03/2025 Closing Date: 8/31/2026 11:59 PM Central FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Summary The Spindletop Museum is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Museum Associate to support daily operations and enhance the visitor experience. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about history, education, and community engagement. Essential Job FunctionsMonitor exhibit environments for pests and fluctuations in temperature/humidity. Lightly clean and maintain museum spaces, including the gift shop, lecture hall, exhibit buildings, and restrooms. Assist with grounds cleaning and general maintenance. Report facility or operational issues to the Museum Director or appropriate Lamar University department. Represent the museum at public events and assist with event coordination and venue logistics. Operate the gift shop cash register, handle cash transactions, and prepare daily deposits. Manage gift shop sales, answer phone inquiries, and provide customer service. Greet visitors, sell tickets, share museum information, and conduct gift shop business. Lead tour orientations and provide educational context for exhibits. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED Required Qualifications: Availability to work weekends and late evenings (as late as midnight). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desired Qualifications: Experience operating a cash register and handling cash. Previous customer service experience. Supplemental InformationKey Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Demonstrates honesty and integrity. Ability to follow directions accurately. Efficient and detail-oriented work habits. Punctual and dependable. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to lift, move, or hold 30+ pounds. Must be able to move tables and chairs as needed. Job Conditions: May be exposed to variable weather conditions during outdoor events or custodial duties. Primarily works in a climate-controlled environment.
