Job Description & Requirements Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/09/2026 Duration: 9 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - NICU for a Level III NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and the ability to manage vents, oscillators, pressors, and micro preemies. Responsibilities Level III NICU in a hospital setting Patient population ranges from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, with neonates primarily admitted from labor and delivery Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, High Frequency Oscillation (HFO), and nitric oxide inhalation therapy Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts per week 9-week contract with 36 hours per week Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery, and attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and parent teaching Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position - local candidates are not accepted All certifications must be from the American Heart Association (AHA) Requirements Active, unrestricted RN license in the District of Columbia (no pending licenses accepted) Current AHA certifications required: BLS, NRP, and STABLE CPI certification required for this position Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in a US hospital required; 3+ years strongly preferred Proficiency with ventilators, oscillators, pressors, and care of micro preemies required Valid US Social Security Number required Date of birth required for consideration Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the past 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-675459.
