About this Job: General Summary of Position We are seeking a dedicated Oncology Nursing Supervisor who will provide leadership and oversight to our outpatient oncology clinical practice. This role focuses on ensuring quality patient care, fostering staff commitment to improving patient outcomes, and collaborating with the Director on financial and resource management. Adherence to department-specific policies and procedures as well as maintaining competencies within the assigned departments is essential. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Achieve established department goals and objectives while adhering to policies, quality standards, and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation regulations. Actively participate in developing departmental objectives and ensure alignment with quality standards and safety protocols. Serve as the primary liaison with physicians and other departments, resolving functional inconsistencies effectively. Identify staff development needs and facilitate appropriate resources. Provide hands-on procedure demonstrations and evaluate competencies as needed, in consultation with Organizational Leadership and Research. Investigate and address customer complaints and incidents, communicating outcomes to management when necessary. Maintain open communication with staff to review programs, provide feedback, and discuss new developments. Regularly engage in rounding activities with the team. Review patient charts to guarantee complete and accurate nursing documentation, addressing gaps in education as required. Participate on multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, fostering effective relationships with other departments and representing the hospital in community outreach efforts. Lead the implementation of new programs and guide practice changes to enhance patient care quality. Assist in staff selection, scheduling, approval of PTO requests, budget preparation, performance evaluations, and progressive discipline as directed by the Department Leader. Fulfill Charge Nurse and Nurse Navigator responsibilities when necessary. Engage in meetings and committees, actively representing the department and hospital in community outreach initiatives. Participate in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Complete additional duties as assigned and maintain Clinical Ladder requirements as appropriate. Minimal Qualifications Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Experience A minimum of 3-4 years of experience providing direct patient care in oncology is required. 3-4 years of nursing supervisor experience is preferred. Licenses and Certifications Must hold RN - Registered Nurse State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure with a current Maryland license or Multistate Compact license. CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification (includes BLS and NRP) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross is required within 90 days. Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) and Certification in Chemotherapy and/or Biotherapy is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills are preferred. This position offers a competitive hiring range of USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 per year.
