Job Description:Job Summary The Painter is responsible for performing skilled painting and surface-finishing work, along with minor repair and maintenance duties, to preserve and enhance the appearance of interior and exterior spaces. Working under general supervision, this role ensures that walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces are properly prepared, repaired, and finished to maintain high aesthetic and safety standards throughout the facility and associated locations. Primary Responsibilities Perform interior and exterior painting projects, ensuring smooth, even, and high-quality finishes Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching, priming, and applying appropriate materials Complete repair work including spackling, taping, plastering, and minor drywall/sheetrock repairs Conduct wood staining, varnishing, sealing, and stripping as required Mix and match custom paint colors to meet project specifications Utilize spray equipment and specialty finishing techniques, including marbelizing Protect surrounding areas by covering floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment prior to work Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and touch up as necessary Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner Follow safety procedures when working on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms Perform additional minor maintenance tasks as assigned Requirements & Qualifications Experience & Skills Minimum five (5) years of experience in the painting trade Strong knowledge of paints, stains, coatings, finishes, and proper application techniques Ability to mix custom colors and understand color matching principles Proficient in operating paint mixers, shakers, spray equipment, and other related tools Experience with decorative finishing techniques such as marbelizing Ability to operate rigs and standard trade tools safely and effectively Additional Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and reaching Understanding of workplace safety standards and proper handling of materials Working Place:New York, New York, United States Company : 2026 Virtual March 26th - Metropolitan Museum of Art
