Work Schedule: Normal operations hours are Monday through Friday. Under supervision of clinic manager, providespreventative dental care and demonstrates good oral hygiene practices forpatients. Works closely with dentists, residents, supervisors andspecialty care coordinator to provide full quality care to their patientpopulation. Responsibilities/Duties Provides preventive maintenance dental care. Performs periodontal therapy. Exposes digital radiographs and expose and develop pantographic film and bitewings when necessary. Trains patient in oral hygiene care. Maintains a recall system for patients. Assists dentist in identifying the dental needs of patients. Places sealants on teeth. Maintains implants. Performs oral inspections and fill out quality assessment forms to be routed to the specialty care coordinator when necessary. Updates medical histories. Supports other hygienists in department, when time permits by: treating patients, assisting with the set up or breakdown of operatories, retrieving or ordering instruments, supplies or charts. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upondepartmental needs. Required Skills Thorough knowledge of the principles of Hygienetheory, technique, and practice. Skill in the use of dental instruments andequipment. Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Abilityto follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicateeffectively and give particular attention to patients individual needs. Required Education Registered Dental Hygienist with currentlicensure by the State of Maryland Required Qualifications All candidatesmust be RDH and, or RDH, BS and CPR Certified andremain certified with renewal every two years thereafter.
