Summary Performs a variety of assignments requiring a high degree of knowledge in the construction Field with specific emphasis on the safe operation of a backhoe and other hydraulic excavation equipment. This is a full-time hourly position, reporting to the Senior Distribution Project Manager in Boston, MA. This position is a member of the Bargaining Unit Member of the IUOE, Local 877. The hourly rate for this position is $51.55. ResponsibilitiesAll activities covered under Truck Driver/Laborer, Skilled Laborer, and Construction Specialist. Operates a backhoe. Coordinates and controls work sequences of the Construction crews. Assists department supervision in developing maintenance, repair and installation techniques. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and / or specifications. Assists in the training of other Backhoe Operators and construction crew members. Assists others as required. All other related duties. Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid MA hoisting engineers license. Preferred QualificationsMinimum 6 years of related experience operating Backhoe and hydraulic equipment. OSHA 10 certification. Requires OSHA Hazwopper certification. Required excavation and shoring competent person certification. Physical Requirements Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company. Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening. Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) or proper safety procedures warrant use. Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 80 pounds, unassisted. Required to work in confined spaces. Required climbing ladders, and / or stairs. Required to work in all adverse conditions, both indoors and outdoors all seasons. Required to work in hot areas.
