A skilled Surgical Technologist opportunity is available in Gastonia, NC, offering a challenging role in a high-acuity setting. This contract position focuses on night shifts, working primarily Wednesday through Friday evenings, with occasional call responsibilities including weekends and holidays. The operating suites consist of 32 OR rooms plus one procedure room, supporting 70-100 diverse surgeries daily. Cases include cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neuro spine, orthopedic trauma, robotics (DaVinci XI), transplant surgeries, and complex plastics reconstruction such as head/neck free flaps and microsurgery. A strong background with Level I or II Trauma centers and cardiac or ortho trauma experience is essential. Key Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Level I or II Trauma Center; Level III trauma experience will not be accepted At least 3 years in cardiac, vascular, or thoracic surgical settings Surgical Technologist certification with BLS; CST preferred but not mandatory Proficiency in cardiac cases, orthopedic trauma, and specialized microsurgery techniques, including head/neck free flaps Experience with advanced surgical technology and robotics is highly valued Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain sterile environment for complex surgical cases Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, OR assistants, anesthesia professionals, and charge nurses Support high patient volume efficiently while adhering to safety protocols Participate in orientation and ongoing training with supportive leadership and clinical supervision Scheduling: 12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, Wednesday through Friday On-call once weekly evening coverage and rotating weekend call every 6-8 weeks with a one-hour response time Expected to cover 50% of holidays during the contract Location Insights: Gastonia offers a welcoming community with convenient access to metropolitan amenities while maintaining a comfortable suburban feel.
