Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) | Boonville, Missouri

An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with medical-surgical expertise to support adult patient care in an acute inpatient setting. This contract position is based in Boonville, Missouri, offering a dynamic and challenging environment within a busy 32-bed medical specialties unit. Candidates should be prepared to manage diverse and complex cases while prioritizing safety and high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include delivering comprehensive nursing care for patients with a variety of diagnoses such as respiratory conditions (including Covid and pneumonia), renal disorders, endocrine issues like diabetes, gastrointestinal emergencies, dementia, altered mental status, and infectious diseases. Nurses must competently administer multiple medications, utilize essential equipment such as IV pumps and bladder scanners, and perform airway management with CPAP/BiPAP devices. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current RN license with medical-surgical (MS) experience required Experience managing multiple medications and complex patient care Skilled in IV insertion and line management; PICC/Central Line and dialysis fistula care preferred Proficient in airway management including CPAP/BiPAP Capable of managing feeding tubes and wound vac devices; experience with epidural/PCA pumps preferred Ability and willingness to float to other medical specialty areas as needed Willingness to accept up to a maximum of 8 patients in exceptional situations Current CEU documentation required for interview process Previous traveler experience preferred; new travelers not accepted Schedule: Night shifts with a nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:6 (subject to change up to 1:8) Contract with off-boarding possibility after 36/48 hours notice within a 13-week term Located in Boonville, Missouri, this position offers the chance to work within a supportive healthcare community known for its accessibility and small-town atmosphere while enjoying the natural beauty of the Missouri River and surrounding recreational opportunities.
