Job Description Position Overview As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting operations and maintenance processes. Your main focus will be on designing and enhancing manufacturing and assembly workflows, creating innovative equipment and tooling solutions, and establishing streamlined operational sequences. This role emphasizes maximizing the efficiency of personnel, materials, machinery, and facilities for engine assembly production. Creativity, initiative, and independent judgment are vital for success in this assembly plant environment. Key Responsibilities Define and develop innovative manufacturing and assembly processes. Establish and optimize operational sequences for efficiency. Integrate ergonomic factors into process designs. Ensure a smooth and efficient material flow during production. Champion continuous improvement efforts for equipment and tooling. Engage in the TIP process to facilitate operational enhancements. Work closely with Business Plan Deployment (BPD) teams to align engineering activities with business goals. Troubleshoot equipment and processes by analyzing production data and implementing root cause analysis. Provide expert technical guidance to external vendors. Offer direction and support to maintenance and operations teams. Develop and test advanced process technologies to enhance productivity. Required Skills Excellent knowledge and experience in process engineering principles and practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and collaboration. A demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects independently and responsibly. Proactive in improving processes and supporting colleagues. Familiarity with PFMEA's and Control Plans. Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, and NX, with capabilities in interpreting part and machine prints. Preferred Skills Experience with Team Center and Part Finder drawing management systems. Knowledge of Maximo maintenance management system. Understanding of engine functions, including crank cam timing, oil pressure, engine torque, and ignition systems. Strong knowledge of statistical methods for process control. Familiarity with Quality Systems. Hands-on experience in engine assembly processes such as: Leak testing (pressure decay, vacuum, helium) Automated and manual engine assembly and part feeding systems Automated and manual fastening equipment and torque control (Apex, Atlas Copco, Bosch) Press processes (Kistler, Promess) Engine testing (Bauer) Other Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, off-shift production support, and on-call assignments as needed. Education Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training/experience. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
