Job Description The Data Center Build Engineer Team is at the forefront of designing and constructing physical data center infrastructure that supports Oracle Cloud Infrastructure on a global scale. We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill the Senior Data Center Infrastructure Engineer role, bringing forth a wealth of expertise in Layer 1 networking, data center facilities including power and cooling, structured cabling solutions, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building and maintaining low-voltage physical data center infrastructure. This position is based in Chicago and involves up to 50% travel in the Mid-West and East Coast regions. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate efforts to implement and support both new and existing Oracle data centers Oversee on-site vendor management for the successful build-out of data center infrastructure Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to cabling and infrastructure build standards Review project Bill of Materials to determine scope of work Create detailed project scopes of work for vendors to solicit quotes Engage in the vendor bidding and selection process Design and implement innovative structured cabling solutions for new data center builds and expansions Manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively Deliver user-friendly, sustainable, and replicable solutions and processes Collaborate closely with the Program Management team to ensure all project deliverables are achieved and customer satisfaction is maintained Work in tandem with key project stakeholders Participate actively in vendor quarterly business reviews Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and cords Contribute to the development of global data center cabling and infrastructure standards Desired Skills Experience in designing and deploying holistic data center cabling systems Familiarity with TIA Data Center Cabling Standards Solid knowledge of cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies Proficient in network cabling, including fiber optic types and transceivers Experience in installing and troubleshooting bulk fiber optic cabling Expertise in planning and installing all infrastructure within data center white space Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies Proven track record in successful vendor management across various locations Experience with testing equipment, such as VFL, power meters, and OTDR Thorough understanding of Cat 5, Cat 6, and OM1-OS2 fiber optic systems Knowledge of critical data center electrical infrastructures Familiarity with colocation data center mechanical infrastructures Experience in developing RFI/RFQ/RFPs for vendor quotes Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools, including VFLs, OTDRs, and power meters Understanding of infrastructure technologies such as routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls Knowledge of major command line and networking protocols such as BGP and OSPF Disclaimer: Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only. US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
