Position Summary The Senior Manager, FP&A leads the forward-looking financial planning and analytical functions for Bay State Milling's Oat Milling Business Unit, which encompasses two operational locations: Belgrade, Montana (U.S.) and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada). Based in our Minneapolis, MN office, this role is the central integrator of Oat Milling's forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, and capital investment modeling. Given the lean size of the finance organization, the Senior Manager, FP&A will be a highly hands-on contributor-responsible for building financial models, owning forecast assumptions, partnering with plant operations and commercial teams, and producing actionable insights that support decisionmaking. The role serves as a key analytical partner to the Oat Milling Senior Leadership Team, supporting strategic growth initiatives, scenario planning, capital investments such as the Saskatoon oat flour mill expansion, and enterprise initiatives including ERP transformation. The position requires a blend of analytical rigor, business partnership, and operational awareness to enhance BU performance and align to corporate governance and strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Leadership Own all FP&A processes for the Oat Milling Business Unit, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning. Develop and maintain integrated financial models reflecting volume, pricing, mix, yield, labor, and capacity assumptions. Evaluate business performance trends and provide forward-looking insights and risk mitigation recommendations. Hands-On Analytical Execution Build capital investment models, including the Saskatoon oat flour mill project, scenario analyses, and ROI calculations. Support pricing analysis, SKU profitability, and customer margin analytics. Collaborate with plant leadership to connect operating metrics to financial projections and performance outcomes. Business Partnering & Strategic Support Serve as a key financial partner to the Oat Milling GM, supporting strategic planning and growth initiatives. Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Corporate Finance to ensure alignment on financial assumptions. Support ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365) readiness, data integrity, and process improvements tied to analytics and reporting. Performance Management Lead development of KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and automated reporting tools. Drive monthly performance reviews and variance explanations for senior leadership. Enhance forecasting discipline by applying data-driven insights and continuous improvement practices. Confidential Position Specification 7 The Candidate Experience, Qualifications, and Competencies Required for the role: 8-12+ years of FP&A / financial modeling experience B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Background in manufacturing, CPG, or agribusiness - they need to be comfortable with plants, cost drivers, and operations Advanced Excel modeling skills - capital projects, scenarios, sensitivities, and long-range planning Proven experience leading forecasting, budgeting, and multi-year planning processes Strong track record of partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams and influencing decisions in a matrix environment Excellent communication skills - must be able to translate complex analysis into clear, practical insights for business leaders Comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a lean team environment, with a bias toward action and ownership Nice to have: Experience with D365 and Power BI or similar BI tools Exposure to food ingredients, grain/oats, or commodity-based businesses Prior experience building capital investment models and supporting major projects Some leadership/mentorship experience, even if they don't have direct reports here Other Requirements Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
