Location: SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, 1201 Grand Position Overview: As a vital member of the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) team, you will be responsible for performing patient care activities to assist registered nurses and physicians during surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities: Anticipate and plan individualized care for patients based on in-depth knowledge of CVOR surgical procedures. Assist with surgical cases by running the table and supporting the surgeon using surgical asepsis and infection control protocols. Maintain an organized work environment and ensure the care of specialty equipment to achieve quality and efficiency outcomes. Exhibit expertise in the operation of instrumentation and equipment specific to CVOR cases. Manage all specialty instrument sets, ensuring proper sterilization methods, while mentoring non-specialty staff on equipment usage. Maintain a constant state of alertness and adhere to safety standards. Perform additional tasks as needed. Requirements: Education: High School diploma/GED or 10 years of related work experience. Experience: Minimum six months as a CVOR surgical technologist or two years in surgical technologist roles. Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision and hearing to perform duties effectively. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull varying weights, and remain on your feet for long periods. Frequent bending, reaching, gripping, and movement of patients. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent certifications.
