Salary: $32,448.00 - $43,804.80 Annually Location : Americus Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202300085 Department: Natural Gas Opening Date: 11/13/2025 Description The purpose of the Gas Utility Worker classification within the Service department is to perform maintenance work involving installation and repair of natural gas utility lines, meters, regulators, and related equipment, as well as assist with the bi-weekly cut-off list. Examples of Duties The functions listed below are those that represent most of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and manual tasks associated with gas utility installation and maintenance projects, such as repairing leaks, installing meters, and performing pipe fitting. Assists in providing training and guidance to other employees and operates various equipment, machinery, and tools for department projects. Performs general maintenance tasks, follows safety procedures, completes forms, and reports, and provides emergency response after hours, weekends, and holidays. Required to reside within a thirty-minute response time of the Natural Gas Department Performs any related assigned duties. Typical Qualifications Education: Requires a High School diploma/GED. Experience: Requires one year of previous experience operating heavy equipment; gas utility installation/repair, basic pipe fitting, and general maintenance work; or any equivalent. Supplemental Information Required Certifications and Licenses Valid in the State of Georgia. Commercial Driver's License Class A Physical Demand Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Heavy Work - Involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighting up to 50 pounds. Work Environment (Unavoidable Hazards) Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
