Seeking a GIS Designer/Permit Coordinator to support gas and electric infrastructure projects by processing service applications, coordinating right-of-way permits, and assisting with utility design and GIS mapping. The role includes reviewing and preparing permit applications, tracking approvals, communicating with engineers and municipal representatives, and maintaining accurate project and infrastructure data. Success in this position requires strong communication, organization, and software skills-particularly with GIS, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office-as well as the ability to interpret construction documents, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners.Responsibilities: Monitor incoming service applications and review for completeness. Communicate standard information to applicants regarding gas and electric service requirements. Handle high-volume phone communication, respond to customer inquiries, and connect clients with appropriate resources. Ensure site plans are received and properly filed. Request generation of service orders and route them to Engineering as appropriate. Provide flexible support across departments to maintain workflow efficiency. Support the Permit Coordinator and designers in preparing, submitting, and tracking permit applications and approvals. Maintain a shared permit inbox and project-tracking spreadsheet. Communicate with designers to clarify project needs and develop accurate permit packages. Build and maintain professional relationships with municipal representatives through accurate, high-quality permit submissions. Support utility designers in developing new residential electric and gas service designs using Bluebeam and GIS tools, including producing prints and cost estimates. Map, update, and maintain electric and gas utility infrastructure using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro. Conduct field reviews as needed to verify and collect data for accurate GIS representation. Perform GIS production, editing, data management, spatial analysis, and QA/QC processes. Maintain accurate client records and service histories through data entry and analysis. Collaborate with internal teams to map facilities and support GIS workload and productivity goals. Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geography, cartography, environmental science, or a related field.
