Position Type: Support Staff/Secretary Date Posted: 2/19/2026 Location: Thornwilde Elementary School Date Available: 03/16/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled Internal Transfer Deadline: 02/22/2026 HOURS: Monday - Friday / 8:00am - 3:30PM NOTES: 245 Day contract / Benefits include healthcare and retirement / Earn between $16.74-$22.66(based on years of experience) TITLE: Elementary School Secretary QUALIFICATIONS: Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate Has the ability to read and follow written directions Has two years of increasingly responsible clerical and secretarial experience involving frequent contact with the public Has the ability to type at a skill level of 50 words per minute Has specialized skills in book keeping, basic mathematics, filing, telephone, and computer operation Has demonstrated competency for assigned responsibilities and the ability to work under pressure Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Has demonstrated ability or potential to relate to and work effectively with students, staff, and community REPORTS TO: Principal JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Be familiar with and follow written statutes, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities Perform the usual office routines and practice associated with a busy yet productive elementary school office Prepare and type correspondence for the Principal and others Maintain such student records as shall be required Serve as activity fund treasurer Receive and route all incoming calls Serve as receptionist for the principal Maintain a daily teacher attendance log, and records for substitute teachers Monitor time lines that signal school opening, class changing, school closing, etc. Assist teacher preparing instructional materials as requested and time permits Process all assigned clerical duties assigned by supervising staff members Maintain a schedule of appointments and make arrangements for conferences and other meetings Maintain a log of visitors to the school Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly (Grade 07) 7.5 per day 37.5 per wk. 246 days 12 months Board approved 2-26-92
