Job Description Position: Lifeguard Pay Rate: $17.00/hour Application Deadline: 6/1/2026 (multiple positions available, hiring will occur on a on-going basis during the application period) Looking for a job that feels like summer should? We'll train you to become a lifeguard - visit to learn more about becoming certified. You'll also continue to practice your skills with regular in-service trainings to keep your skills sharp and your confidence strong throughout the season. Job Duties: Responsible for guarding pool area and preventing incidents and accidents by enforcing the safety rules, policies, and regulations. Create a positive experience by conducting activities in and out of the water for all ages. Administer swimming lessons by instructing classes as assigned or subbing; providing a safe learning environment, keeping accurate records, and distributing completed swimming progress report cards to participants. Perform routine cleaning of facility/pool including, but not limited to, disinfection of locker and shower rooms, pool decks, emptying/picking up trash, etc. Recognize and respond to emergency and dangerous situations by reacting quickly and calmly. Performs lifesaving techniques as necessary including, rescue of drowning and near drowning victims, removal of victims from the water, and application of backboard procedures. Performs first aid and completes Accident/Incident report. Correct or inform supervisor of any facility hazards; completes routine walkthroughs of facility and locker rooms. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, orientations, and emergency drills. Host birthday parties, teach group and private lessons, and lifeguard exclusive rentals as needed. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous and professional manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. Communicate issues/complaints to supervisor as needed. Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis; substitute for co-workers when available; is responsible for securing substitutes for shifts unable to work. Experience and Skills Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application. Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid at time of hire. Must successfully pass the District water/swim skills test.
