Job Announcement 20260037 Day Camp Leader 3 CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled APPLY ONLINE AT LONGMONTCOLORADO.GOV/JOBS Department: External Services Division: Community Enrichment Subdivision: Parks, Recreation & Open Space Hiring Rate: $17.57/hour Monday - Friday, various shifts Part Time Temporary Benefits include: Benefits required by law are included such as Jury & Witness Duty, Sick Leave, Social Security, and Medicare. Definition: For individuals who are state licensed leaders, Day Camp Leader 3 has the responsibility for leading activities and assisting with the safety of children in the summer day camp. Principal Duties: Duties may include: • Ability to work with campers and coworkers in a mature and responsible manner. • Assist in planning, scheduling, organizing, and implementing activities, field trips, and special camp events on a weekly basis while displaying creativity and energy. • Oversee and give direction to campers and volunteer staff. • Work with Recreation Coordinator, Supervisor, Day Camp Director and Assistant Direction in maintaining accurate records such as attendance, accident, and incident reports. • Organize and lead campers in daily activities following templates provided. • Provide occasional individualized support for campers which may include behavioral support/coaching and/or base care support, including toileting and feeding, as trained. • If certified, logging and dispensing medicines in accordance with Medical Administration standards. • Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes. Working Environment: Work will be primarily performed in an outdoor environment, with constant exposure to sun, dirt, sand and all types of weather conditions. Must have hearing and vision sufficient to survey the park area and recognize problems with campers, dangerous situations and hazards. Work requires bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, climbing, kneeling, carrying and lifting over 50 lbs. Work requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Work requires the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and interruptions. Work will include exposure to noisy and stressful situations. Work entails working alone as well as working closely with others. Work may include support for camper basic personal care such as feeding and toileting. Qualifications: Ability to work with diverse youth, demonstrate basic group management skills, work under minimal supervision, communicate clearly and concisely, establish and maintain effective working relationship with superiors, subordinates and patrons, use good judgement and make sound decision in stressful or emergency situations, accurately complete a variety of forms, logs and reports. Has verifiable experience in excess of 400 hours working with groups of individuals (ages 5+) thus obtaining State Qualified Day Camp Leader status.
