OBJECTIVE: A Social Studies Teacher develops and delivers engaging, standards-aligned curriculum in history, geography, civics, and economics to educate students on past and present societal, political, and cultural issues. They facilitate critical thinking, manage classroom behavior, assess student progress, and foster an inclusive environment that promotes civic awareness and academic growth. This position is exempt from overtime. Teachers are required to attend meetings and training. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement lesson plans covering history, geography, government, and economics, adhering to state and school standards. Instructional Methods: Utilize varied teaching techniques, including lectures, debates, and technology-driven, interactive, or project-based learning to engage students. Assessment & Evaluation: Create and grade assignments, quizzes, and projects; analyze student data to track progress and adjust instruction. Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that is organized and conducive to learning. Communication: Meet with parents, staff, and administrators to discuss student progress and collaborate on educational needs. Student Support: Provide individualized support, differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles, and work with special education staff. REQUIRED SKILLS: Skills: Strong knowledge of subject matter, excellent communication, classroom management skills, and proficiency in educational technology. REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor's degree in social studies or education with a social studies endorsement. Preferred: Master's degree in social studies or education with a social studies endorsement. Required: Minimum three (3) years of prior teaching experience in social studies. Preferred: Valid Texas Certification in your area of instruction.
