PURPOSE Directs the activities of warehouse personnel, including receiving, stocking, load building, customer service and deliveries. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Oversees the safe and efficient handling of goods by employees operating forklifts or other machinery ensuring that employees receive the proper training and certification, if necessary. Oversees and coordinates periodic inventory checks; prepares merchandise orders to ensure that identified stock levels meet merchandising requirements at all times; maintains record keeping system to provide immediate access to current stock information when needed. On occasion, will perform the same duties as other yard personnel. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and five or more years of experience performing and coordinating yard or warehousing activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. COMPETENCIES Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations and handling of all machinery and equipment; maintains certification to operate such if required. Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain and increase manpower and equipment efficiency Communication skills sufficient to speak before teams and work groups to explain work rules, product standards and productivity goals Ability to read and write work schedules and reports Knowledge of basic math, counting and estimating Customer service orientation Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
