Morgan County School District Re-3 Position Description / Job PostingPosition Title: Health Aide / CNA Location: Assigned School Site(s) Reports To: Building Principal and District School Nurse Position Summary Morgan County School District Re-3 is seeking a qualified Health Aide to support student health services at assigned school site(s). The Health Aide works under the supervision and delegation of the District School Nurse and Building Principal to assist in promoting student health and safety, maintaining accurate health records, supporting compliance with state and district health requirements, and providing basic first aid and routine health services. The Health Aide supports student access to education by assisting with daily health room operations, medication administration, health data entry, and communication with families and staff regarding student health concerns, while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. This position follows the regular school calendar (Monday-Friday, daytime hours) and includes district-recognized breaks. The position is PERA eligible and benefits eligible in accordance with district policy. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist in implementing district health and safety procedures under the direction of the District School Nurse. Provide basic first aid and initial care to students and staff experiencing illness or injury; determine appropriate next steps in accordance with training and established procedures. Assist with the administration of prescribed medications and treatments to students in accordance with district policy and under the delegation of the School Nurse; maintain accurate documentation. Assist in maintaining up-to-date cumulative health records for all students, including immunization records, screening results, and required state documentation. Enter and maintain student health information in Infinite Campus or other district-designated systems, including immunization compliance and health screening updates. Support the School Nurse in monitoring student compliance with Colorado immunization requirements and assist with follow-up communication to families of non-compliant students. Assist with student health screenings and documentation as directed by the School Nurse. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and inventory of health room supplies; notify supervisor when supplies require replenishment. Communicate student health concerns to the School Nurse and building administration as appropriate while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with district policy. Contact parents/guardians regarding student illness, injury, medication needs, or immunization requirements as directed. Assist with preparation of reports and documentation required by the District and State agencies. Complete and maintain required certifications and training, including CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Communicable Disease training. Support office operations as needed, including assisting with student registration, updating emergency contact information, filing cumulative records, answering telephones, and routing correspondence. Maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate ethical conduct consistently with district policies. Attend required in-services, professional development, and training sessions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or District School Nurse. Education and Qualifications Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Successful completion of district-required Medication Administration training (or ability to obtain upon hire). Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student health information appropriately. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to student health concerns and emergencies. Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry systems. Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents/guardians, and community agencies. Preferred Qualifications: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. Previous experience in a clinical, medical, or school health setting. Experience working with school-aged children. Knowledge of pediatric health concerns, chronic disease management basics, and Colorado immunization requirements.
