American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience for a 13-week acute care assignment in Illinois, working 12-hour shifts with Epic EMR. Job Details • Acute care inpatient hospital setting covering inpatient floors, the ER, and outpatient PFT lab (day shift only), • Adult primary patient population; rare pediatric patients in the ER prior to transfer, • Handles 12-24 respiratory treatments per shift, • Ventilator equipment includes Esprit, PB980, and Avea (average 2 vents per shift); additional equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow therapy, • Charts using Epic EMR, • 12-hour shifts: days (6:00 AM-6:30 PM) or nights (6:00 PM-6:30 AM); primarily consistent day or night schedule based on departmental needs, • Self-scheduling and block scheduling available, • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday), • Holiday coverage is not required but the facility may coordinate with the traveler if assistance is needed, Job Requirements • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, • Active Illinois RT license required (license must be active at time of consideration - license required if applicable), • Current BLS certification (AHA), • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification via NBRC, • All certifications must be active and non-pending at time of consideration, • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Must pass a drug screen; facility is a drug-free campus, Additional Information • Responsibilities include general RT duties such as drawing ABGs, ventilator management, and administering respiratory treatments; RTs do not perform EKGs, • Intubation assistance only - independent intubation is not required, • A lead supervisor is on-site during the 8:00 AM-5:00 PM shift and available by phone after hours; the supervisor also carries a patient assignment while on shift, • On-call assistance is not required but the facility may coordinate with the traveler based on census and acuity, • Department-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts, • Scrub color is kelly green; travelers may wear any professional color scrubs, • No radius rule applies; however, clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate, • Candidates are reviewed without a formal interview - profiles are submitted for client review
