Job Summary Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a vibrant and growing four-year state college located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting. We are seeking a dedicated and engaging educator passionate about fostering accounting literacy and critical thinking skills in a diverse student body. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our expanding academic programs and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students. Responsibilities Teach a range of undergraduate accounting and business courses, potentially including Principles of Accounting I, Principles of Accounting II, and other specialized fields depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. Teach five (5), courses per semester Develop and deliver engaging and effective instruction in various modalities, including in-person, online (asynchronous and synchronous), and hybrid or hyflex formats. Be available and willing to teach courses at off-site locations within the Atlanta metropolitan area. Contribute to curriculum development and assessment to ensure program quality and student learning outcomes. Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and/or professional development, consistent with the expectations for tenure at a four-year state college. Provide academic advising and mentorship to students. Participate actively in departmental and college-wide committees and initiatives. Maintain currency in the field of accountancy and pedagogical best practices. Potentially contribute to and support the college's high school dual-enrollment program. Support re-accreditation efforts for the department and/ or the college Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, a Master's degree in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 to 21 graduate-level credit hours in Accounting will be considered. Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level in at least one of the following modalities: in-person, online, or hybrid. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their teaching philosophy and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness. Ability to effectively communicate accounting concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles. A commitment to excellence in teaching and student success. Preferred Qualifications Experience with high school dual-enrollment programs, including curriculum alignment and instructional strategies for high school students. Evidence of scholarly activity or potential for future scholarship. Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle).
