General Purpose: As a Retail Security Specialist, you will provide a visible presence at store entrances and exits, tackling theft and fraud while ensuring a safe environment for both associates and customers. You'll engage customers with a friendly and approachable demeanor, scanning for potential theft indicators on the sales floor while collaborating with Store Leadership to uphold loss prevention directives and minimize operational shortage. Essential Functions: Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: Understand that safety is paramount; assist Store Leadership in ensuring a secure environment for all. Provide visible 'command' presence at entrances/exits and on the sales floor while monitoring for potential safety issues. Regularly remove clutter to ensure safe access to emergency exits. Building Great Teams & Partnerships: Foster great customer service by welcoming customers with a smile and willingness to assist. Treat all customers and associates respectfully and professionally, recognizing their contributions. Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Actively monitor for suspicious behavior, utilizing your knowledge of theft indicators to inform Store and Loss Prevention Leadership. Minimizing Operational Shortage: Educate associates about effective processes to reduce operational shortages and oversee compliance with checkout procedures. Competencies: Work Process Management Business Acumen Planning & Prioritization Talent Development Collaborative Approach Leading by Example Effective Communication Accountability & Execution Qualifications and Special Skills: High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. Preferred experience: One year in retail supervision or relevant training. Preferred experience: One year in loss prevention/security training. Active Security Guard License preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Excellent customer service skills with proven conflict resolution ability. Compliance with all relevant laws and regulations for security roles, including background checks and drug tests. Physical Requirements/ADA: Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to spend the majority of working hours standing, walking, and moving throughout the store. Ability to lift objects over 25 lbs.
