The Role Join us in our commitment to improving product safety through innovative research in driver performance. We are seeking a dedicated Driver Performance Safety Research Engineer to lead cutting-edge safety studies and define requirements for both active and passive safety features. You will play a pivotal role in conducting field research, evaluating new technologies, and benchmarking competitor products to establish robust driver performance specifications for Active Safety and Automation systems. This position involves working with advanced engineering teams to support the development of these systems, conducting thorough analyses, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, including safety regulators, marketing teams, and academic institutions. Your expertise in Human Factors will be key in shaping the future of Active Safety, Driver Assistance, and Automated Driving systems. What You'll Do Lead Driver Performance Studies and establish requirements for Active Safety and Driving Automation Systems. Provide technical leadership to ensure that Active Safety and Driving Automation needs are seamlessly integrated into safety-critical Human-Machine Interface (HMI) designs. Guide Product and Systems teams with safety directions on feature implementation. Develop innovative technical solutions tailored to current and future architectures. Conduct complex design analyses and evaluate engineering designs, including subsystems. Establish and balance requirements across various systems. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with engineering departments and clients. Stay updated on emerging technologies and competitive products. Travel as necessary to support project goals. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field. 2+ years of related experience in a relevant field. Deep understanding of Human Factors methodologies for driver performance studies and requirements development. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork and collaboration. Advanced analytical problem-solving capabilities. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Master's or Ph.D. in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field. Completion of two or more graduate-level statistics courses. Proficiency in programming, including experience with AI-assisted tools for coding. DFSS Black Belt Certification. This position is categorized as hybrid, requiring the selected candidate to report to a designated location at least three times a week. Travel may be necessary for project requirements. A valid driver's license is needed to operate a vehicle for this role.
