Responsibilities: Shipment Planning & Coordination Deliver precise and timely freight quotes, aimed at obtaining optimal pricing and service quality. Plan, schedule, and oversee inbound and outbound shipments to adhere to customer delivery timelines and internal priorities. Coordinate logistics for final product delivery, guaranteeing on-time and damage-free arrivals at construction job sites and various destinations. Manage comprehensive customer communication regarding shipments, covering pre-shipment confirmation of delivery details and site readiness, along with post-delivery follow-ups to ensure satisfaction and successful receipt. Carrier & Broker Management Establish and nurture strong relationships with freight carriers and brokers to secure cost-effective and dependable transportation solutions. Monitor and evaluate carrier performance, including adherence to pickup and delivery schedules, addressing issues proactively. Communication & Internal Collaboration Collaborate closely with in-house support teams to guarantee clear communication regarding shipment timelines and customer expectations. Work alongside the Warehouse Shipping Manager to coordinate daily pickups, deliveries, and shipping priorities. Tracking, Reporting & Claims Track all shipments through various channels, ensuring visibility for internal teams and customers. Handle freight claims and ensure prompt resolution of damage or loss issues. Maintain well-organized and accurate records of all shipping and logistics activities. Generate regular reports for leadership, including freight cost analysis, margin tracking, and performance metrics. Process Optimization & Support Identify and implement tools or systems to enhance freight visibility and communication throughout the sales and shipping process. Conduct regular freight cost reviews to discover opportunities for savings and improved profit margins. Assist in the ongoing development of logistics policies, procedures, and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant field; equivalent industry experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. At least 4 years of experience in transportation, logistics coordination, dispatching, carrier management, freight operations, or similar roles. Previous experience managing shipments to construction job sites or transporting wood/building products is highly preferred. Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is important; hands-on experience is favorable. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong customer service orientation with experience directly communicating logistics expectations to clients. Detail-oriented with a keen focus on accuracy, follow-through, and documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and other logistics or ERP systems is advantageous.
