Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker - Summer 2026

Salary: $15.01 - $16.25 Hourly Location : 430 3rd Street, Farmington - 1 Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 2025004A Department: Parks and Recreation Division: Parks Maintenance Opening Date: 02/11/2026 Closing Date: Continuous This Is a 2026 Summer seasonal position that will assist Park Maintenance staff with ensuring all city parks, open space and trail areas are being maintained in a safe and welcoming manner, so they are appealing and safe for the public use. Operate power equipment to trim shrubs and remove weeds and grass. Operate riding and push mowers to mow grass. Operate hand tools to clean and maintain equipment and facilities. Communicate unsafe conditions and equipment and potential hazards. Keep written reports of work completed and provide to park maintenance staff. Inspect equipment prior to use. Interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Empty and remove garbage from parks. Communicate with park maintenance staff when maintenance supplies are needed for job sites. Keep park facilities swept and clean. Assist with the repair of park facilities and playground equipment. Remove weeds in areas that cannot be removed with a mower. Load and unload vehicles and transport materials, tools and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Some knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in general maintenance and mowing. Must be able to bend, reach stoop, stretch, twist, turn, squat, sit and stand to perform physical labor. Must be an effective communicator. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment. Must be able to work productively and cooperatively as a member of a team. Must be a self-starter with an ability to take initiative and to complete job duties. Must have the ability to work alone or with others. Must display a positive attitude and promote a positive image of the City to the public. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and follow directions. Must be able to work outside including in summer heat and around fumes from gas operated machinery. Ability to work around dirt, dust, debris and pollen. This position is seasonal with no benefits. This position will work up to 40 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday with an occasional weekend shift. Position begins in May or June; and runs through August.
