Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid) Duration: 6+ months Note: iLinc Web Cam Interview Only Job description: Position Overview This role is responsible for the installation, upgrade, monitoring, change control, troubleshooting, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) architecture for both physical and cloud-based infrastructure systems. The position provides technical leadership in solving complex infrastructure problems and requires 24x7 on-call availability as part of a rotation. Work is performed under general direction and reviewed for compliance with organizational standards, policies, and objectives. The role may include mentoring junior staff and contributing to strategic infrastructure planning. Key Responsibilities Serve as a primary technical resource for the design, administration, monitoring, and support of on-premises and cloud infrastructure systems Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain operating systems, storage systems, and data center hardware Lead patch management, performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning for complex environments Design, implement, and support server and data center architectures with real-time monitoring and alerting Establish, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies and procedures Perform impact analysis for new or expanding systems and coordinate upgrades to meet SLA requirements Plan and support all phases of moderately complex infrastructure projects, including cost estimation Provide technical input on future technology direction, upgrades, and system enhancements Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and coordinate with internal teams and third-party vendors Implement DevOps and automation solutions using industry-standard scripting and toolsets Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and technical standards Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced administrators and technicians Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure system availability and reliability Minimum Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Additional 3 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree) Minimum of 5 years of directly related infrastructure or systems administration experience Preferred Qualifications Experience migrating on-premises environments to cloud platforms zure, AWS, or Microsoft certifications Project management experience or formal training Technical Skills & Knowledge Operating Systems: Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 Linux server installation, configuration, and management Infrastructure & Cloud Technologies: Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365 VMware vSphere (ESXi), NSX zure and AWS (SysOps) Dell hardware, Rubrik, SolarWinds monitoring Networking & Core Concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP Distributed computing environments DevOps & Automation: GitHub, Terraform, Ansible Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues bility to perform impact analysis and develop practical system solutions Strong collaboration skills across technical and business teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills bility to mentor junior staff and coordinate third-party vendors Strong organizational, documentation, and process-improvement skills bility to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments High level of professionalism in handling confidential information Working Conditions On-site office environment (cubicle, open office, or private office) Participation in non-standard work hours and on-call rotation as required Fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities Required Skills: Experience planning and executing migration of on-premises to cloud-based server environments Experience with Azure, AWS, and Microsoft technologies Experience managing Linux server environments, including OS installation and administration Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office 365, Windows Servers, Linux Servers, AWS SysOps, and VMware vSphere Experience with DevOps toolsets such as GitHub, Terraform, and Ansible
